If you’ve been researching air purifiers, I bet you’ve been asking yourself, “what’s the easiest air purifier to use?”
To really get an honest answer to that question, let’s take a step back….
When you’re thinking of shopping for an air purifier what are you really looking for? Besides a machine to make your air pollen free, dust free and smoke-free I bet you want something that’s easy to use.
In fact, wouldn’t it be great if there was a machine that worked all by itself?
Spoiler alert: I have the perfect machine for you.
The easiest air purifier to use is the Airmega 400. It uses a color feedback technology so you know how dirty your home’s air is. The Airmega has a dual filtration system to clean the air in your home & it will automatically turn on when it senses a high level of harmful particles in the air.
Now – I know you probably want to run out and buy this machine right now.
Guaranteed you will love it.
But there are some drawbacks to the machine that I want you to know about first…
So in this review, you will learn about :
- The killer effects of poor indoor air
- Differences in air filters
- Why the Airmega is a recommended machine
So we have a lot to cover in this review – and I still have to explain how this machine is super smart..
So let’s jump in!
Causes Of Indoor Air Pollution
As science progresses we learn all kinds of great things – how to live longer, how to be healthier and live better lives. One thing that science has taught us is this :
Indoor air pollution is one of the most common problems globally.
As if that’s not enough!
In most cases, the air on our houses is more polluted than the air outside our houses.
This is very disturbing! Our home is supposed to be our castle, protecting our family and our loved ones.
Proper knowledge of pollution types in our homes is a step in the right direction.
In fact, some of the major causes of indoor air pollution are tobacco, mould, volatile organic compounds (VOC), formaldehyde and carbon monoxide. These indoor air pollutants affect our bodies in the short term, but they are also linked to diseases like cancer, loss of lung capacity, accelerated aging of the lungs and a shortened lifespan.
Air quality can seriously affect your health – like this which clearly shows ignoring the air you breathe can be deadly..
A Simple Solution To Better Indoor Air Quality
We know that indoor air pollution can be deadly. So we must clean the air we breathe -but…
How do we go about this?
it sounds simple enough, but what exactly do we do?
There are various air filtration devices available to get rid of indoor pollutants and detrimental allergens.
Some of these purifiers function by breaking down the pollutants into innocuous elements – others work with UV lights to actually eliminate harmful bacteria and mold.
Some others make use of HEPA filtration mechanism to get rid of these tiny pollutants.
And still, others use filters activated carbon, dual fans, and smart technology.
If this is your first time reading about air filters and how to best clean your air I know it can be overwhelming, so let’s break down each element inside an air filter. That way you’ll know exactly what each component does -helping you feel comfortable choosing a machine that’s right for you. I’ll also recommend specific types of filters for specific issues later in this article.
HEPA
Hepa filters are a specific type of air filter used in air purifiers. HEPA or High-Efficiency Particulate Air filter is made of glass that is spun into fibers. These Fibers are tightly woven and help catch very small particles that are carried by air. HEPA filters collect pet dander, pollen, and smoke.
Activated Charcoal
Did you know that charcoal is one of the most efficient cleaning materials known to man? In fact – it’s been used for hundreds of years to clean our air, and our water supply. But to be an effective cleaning agent the carbon must be treated to remove certain elements, then it becomes “activated”.
UV light
Use of UV light is widespread in commercial air cleaning systems – like restaurants, office buildings, and large shopping malls.
Viruses, bacteria, and mold – all organic matter -can be destroyed by the UV light. This technology is best used with other filtration devices like activated charcoal and HEPA filters for a really efficient machine.
Ok – now that I gave you a lot of information about air pollution and air filters – let’s talk about some Air purifiers.
The Airmega 400
[wp-review id=”3443″]
Now, some notes about these figures. CADR refers to Clean Air Delivery Rate. The minimum you want to change your air is 1x per hour. For allegy sufferes you want at least 4x.
So, to understand CADR do this :
take your total rooms cubic suare feet (length, width and heigh (ceiling) ) and multiple it out. Example : our living rooms is 15 ft by 28 ft with 8 ft ceilings = 3,360 cubic square feet.
to effectively clean the selected area the rooms total volume should be equal or less then 12x the CADR value.
So the CADR is 350 x 12 = 4200
our room is 3360.
This machine will efficently clean our desired room with 1x air change per hour.
The Alen Breathesmart is a brand that is quite attractive and gives room for customization- so be sure to read about it.
So – what’s so great about the 400?
Well, remember how I told you earlier this machine is smarter than Einstein?
I kinda left something out. Einstein was brilliant – probably one of the smartest men who ever lived. but Einstein’s nose -like every human’s nose -is pretty bad at detecting and cleaning harmful air. That’s why we need specialized filters and a process.
That’s what really sets this air purifier apart- the technology and cleaning process of the machine.
The Filters
In the air mega-400 version (that’s compatible with Alexa)- the machine uses 3 filters total. The dual fans suck in dirty air and clean it through the prefilter to trap large particles like pet fur, large dust particles, and human hair -making the air ready for stage 2 filtration.
Now the air has been “precleaned” and is ready for the HEPA filter – trappng smaller dust particles, pollen, allergens, and pollutants.
Finally, the air will goes throught the activated charcoal – removing salts, minerals, and VOC’S -leaving clean air behind.
The Technology
Airmega packed this machine with a tons of useful technology.
The app is impressive- It’s pretty simple and straightforward to use, and since I am attached to my cell phone everywhere I go it’s simple to change the settings on my air purifier.
But it gets better.
The machine uses a simple color technology to indicate how clean or dirty your indoor air is. If the machine’s lights glow bright pink your air is full of dangerous particles – the airmega will kick on and start cleaning the air immediately.
Once the air is clean it will return to the clear air color indicator – blue.
Now you might not have noticed one subtle thing I mentioned before….
When the machine “notices” the air is anything less than clean it automatically starts the cleaning process.
Wow.
It saves my money buy beings efficient and doesn’t drive me crazy by being noisy and constantly running.
It only works – efficiently- when it needs to. If this air is harmful the sensors will “know” that and the fan turns on to quickly filter the air.
Common Air Quality Issues
We covered how dangerous indoor air can be for you and your health, but let’s cover some specific issues so you can see which air purifier would be best for you.
Here are some common issues that people have with their air quality and some machines that would greatly help clean the air:
Smoke
Let’s say a family member is a smoker and it bothers you. You need an air purifier that has activated carbon and a HEPA filter. The 400s version would be a great choice.
Bacteria and Viruses
If your environment is dirty or many people live in close vicinity (i.e. apartment building) then a HEPA filter and UV light is recommended. Choose this one.
Dust and Odor
Let’s say you have dust and odor and it’s causing you issues. This is best solved with a HEPA filter and activated carbon. Again, I’m recommending the 400.
Small Children In The Home
I would recommend the works: HEPA activated charcoal and a UV light. I know it sounds excessive – but I want all the protection I can get for my family. I would buy this machine, actually a few of them because it only cleans a small space. If my kids were a bit older (over 5) I would skip it and go for the airmega.
There are some of the most common issues with indoor air and as you can see the Airmega can tackle most of these issues – and for the majority of people will be the best choice. If However you have small children or are really concerned with viruses and bacteria then go with one of the other recommended air purifiers.
Let’s see what some customers have said about the Airmega 400
I really enjoyed using this product even though we had problems with the wash light not turning off. And I am not really sure why it’s more expensive by $200 since the last time I bought it. In the last 60 days, the price has gone up twice. I wouldn’t buy again at the present price as there are other cheaper products that are just as impressive.

I really like this product. We live in a loft and our next door neighbor is a serial smoker. Most times, I come back home and my place has that very irritating smoke smell. This air purifier detects the slightest smell and automatically comes on by itself to get rid of the foul smell and unhealthy air. My kitchen is a bit far from my rooms. But this purifier is so sensitive that it has the ability to switch itself on. I would recommend this brand to anyone and I have already bought another unit for the rooms upstairs. It is quite noiseless too.
With this product, you get value for your money. This purifier is durable and its body parts are made from strong materials. It functions quite fast too. Recently, our kitchen was renovated and the purifier did a great job of getting rid of foul odor and eliminating the dust. I am contemplating purchasing a second unit.

Conclusion
On Amazon, most customers have been impressed, such that it has amassed an average rating of 4.3 stars.
The air mega-400 version is a brand that surely offers a lot of value. But you should ask yourself if the package is worth the high price? The expense of filter changes and the initial cost of the machine is quite expensive. In fact, filter changes will cost you as much as the machine itself over a 3 year period.
Why buy the Airmega 400?
It is expensive, no doubt. But what is the value you place on your health and your families health? Would you invest in the best technology for yourself and your family to live a longer, healthier life? I would, and that’s why I recommend the Airmega 400– the technology and the filtration system are a good value based on the cost and the competing machines on the market.
